This research aimed to analyze the importance of promoting reading in early childhood education, its influence on the development of reading habits, and the implementation of appropriate pedagogical strategies to foster this process. The characteristics of children at this stage were considered, and the theoretical approaches that support this practice were presented. The study was conducted using a bibliographic research methodology, consulting reliable sources such as institutional repositories. As a result, the information was compiled and organized into two thematic areas: the promotion of reading, which includes the approaches that support it and the strategies for its encouragement; and the development of reading in early childhood education. After analyzing the information, it was concluded that promoting reading in early childhood education is fundamental to fostering children's interest in books and strengthening reading habits from an early age. This practice not only strengthens linguistic and cognitive skills but also stimulates imagination, creativity, and affective and social development.
