Basic motor skills are fundamental to child development and have a significant impact on the school stage. These skills, such as walking, running, jumping, throwing, and catching, constitute the foundation for students' physical, cognitive, and emotional development. The objective of this study was to analyze the importance of basic motor skills in the educational process of children in primary school, considering their fundamental role in comprehensive physical, social, and academic development, as established by the Peruvian national curriculum in the area of Physical Education. From this perspective, we sought to highlight how the acquisition and practice of these skills from an early age allows not only for children's autonomous development but also for improved academic performance and general well-being. We also examine the need to implement effective pedagogical strategies, recreational activities, and systematic programs in educational institutions that promote motor development and contribute to a more inclusive and meaningful education for all students. Therefore, it is necessary for educational institutions to promote a suitable pedagogical approach that guarantees healthy conditions in the present and adult lives of students.
