The objective was to examine the effects of social media use on adolescent learning. A systematized narrative review was conducted using scientific articles selected from the following databases: Google Scholar, Dialnet, Redalyc, SciELO, and ResearchGate. The findings reveal that problematic social media use is associated with academic distraction, procrastination, reduced study time, and lower grades. It was also identified that, under appropriate supervision, these platforms can facilitate collaborative learning, the development of digital competencies, and access to diverse educational resources. In conclusion, the impact of social media depends on multiple factors: the intensity and purpose of use, the type of platform, the user's psychological characteristics, family dynamics, and educational mediation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop critical digital literacy strategies, strengthen parental involvement, train teachers in the pedagogical use of digital tools, and design differentiated interventions based on risk profiles.
