This monograph analyzes educational strategies linked to plastic waste management in Latin American basic education, with particular attention to how this issue can become teachable content and a didactic opportunity. A systematic narrative review of scientific literature published between 2020 and 2025 was conducted using Google Scholar and Dialnet databases. After applying specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten studies with identifiable methodology were selected, addressing the generation, treatment, impact, and reuse of plastic waste and their pedagogical implications. Findings reveal that plastic waste, especially microplastics, pose increasing risks to human health and ecosystems. At the same time, studies agree that environmental education is the most effective strategy for changing habits and fostering civic participation. Significant differences were identified among authors regarding pedagogical methods, curricular scope, and the role of local governments. The monograph concludes by highlighting how plastic waste management constitutes a high-potential transversal didactic axis in secondary education.
