La investigación se basó en la revisión bibliográfica para sistematizar la información teórica sobre la temática abordada. Se consultaron diferentes fuentes documentales como libros, artículos en revistas científicas, tesis disponibles en repositorios virtuales y buscadores académicos. Los resultados del análisis de la información destacan que el cuento fomenta diferentes habilidades lingüísticas, cognitivas, imaginación, creatividad y valores esenciales para la convivencia, además de reforzar el vínculo afectivo entre actores educativos. Se concluye el estudio señalando que el cuento es un recurso didáctico indispensable para generar aprendizajes significativos y favorecer el desarrollo integral de los niños de educación inicial.The objective of this research work was to analyze the theoretical foundations of the story as a teaching resource in early education, highlighting its contributions to the teaching and learning process and its impact on child development. The research was based on the bibliographic review to systematize the theoretical information on the topic addressed. Different documentary sources were consulted such as books, articles in scientific journals, theses available in virtual repositories and academic search engines. The results of the information analysis highlight that the story promotes different linguistic and cognitive skills, imagination, creativity and essential values for coexistence, in addition to reinforcing the emotional bond between educational actors.
